Barbie flip-phone will promote digital detox

Human Mobile Devices, Europe’s smartphone manufacturer has teamed up with Mattel to bring us this, the Barbie Flip Phone , set to arrive this Summer.

We hadn’t envisioned this bit of merch at all but, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is where the two companies have wheeled out the latest accessory for the seemingly unstoppable Barbie merchandise behemoth (Electric car surely, where are you Elon?).

Anyways, Human Mobile Devices Chief Marketing Office, Lars Silberbauer said of the offering “Is it time to swap reel life for real life and take a breather from all the interruptions of notifications? We’re thrilled to partner with Mattel, a company that shares our commitment to meaningful innovation and societal change”.

And, Ruth Henriquez, Head of Consumer Products, at Mattel EMEA, is equally as excited “At the heart of Mattel is design and innovation, and this latest collaboration is another step forward in that direction. The Barbie x HMD launch promises to be an exciting moment for Barbie fans of all ages, we’re excited to flip the switch and unveil it to the world at Mobile World Congress”.

We’ve no more detail on what we’ve seen it’ll be a feature low flip-phone rather than a premium premium smartphone, well, there are plenty of those around already and we want pink and like the thought of a branded, high-preforming handset that does what it say on the tin with plenty of Pantone 219C.
