House of Mouse – Head of live-action gets the chop

The head of Disneys live action unit, responsible or s decent $7bn in revenue the last decade plus is on his way out. Sean Bailey has had some great success with the live-action adaptions of Alice in Wonderland, The Jungle Book, and Maleficent – early versions of the current live-action trend. He was also responsible in part for The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin but The Ant and the Wasp, a rare Marvel flop and The Little Mermaid and Mulan, both of which underperformed and came under the spotlight for negative messaging. Goodness knows his replacement David Greenbaum, the current head of Disney-owned Searchlight pictures, has his role under scrutiny when the delayed storm that is bound to be bigger than one in a teacup when Snow White arrives on the big screen. Reports are that the iconic Dwarfs – iconic roles in the original film are to be replaced by seven ‘magical (non-dwarf) creatures’ to keep the storytelling in line with the 21st Century’s commitment to political correctness.
