Women of NASA celebrated in brick

Under the headline “Ladies rock outer space” LEGO fan designer Maia Weinstock presented her idea for a Women of NASA LEGO set to LEGO Ideas. It made it through the process and as of 1st November you can buy one yourself. As a science editor and writer, with a strong personal interest for space exploration as well as the history of women in science and engineering, Maia Weinstock’s Women of NASA project celebrates accomplished women in STEM professions. Not a bad looking set at all, inside re mini figures of Nancy Grace Roman, Margaret Hamilton, Sally Ride and Mae Jemison. The three LEGO builds illustrating their area of expertise – Nancy Grace Roman with a posable Hubble Space Telescope with a projected image of a planetary nebula. We have Margaret Hamilton’s build with a stack of books representing the listings of Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) onboard flight software source code aaaaaand finally Sally Ride and Mae Jemison’s build features a launch-pad and Space Shuttle Challenger with three removable rocket stages. Oh yeah, 231 pieces in total, £25.
