Vive La Tour Eiffel – Bon Anniversaire!

On this day in 1889 one French engineer by the name of Gustave Eiffel unfurled the French tricolor from atop the Eiffel Tower, he did this to mark the completion of said landmark.  It took just over two years to complete and stands at 1,063 feet tall pub quizzers, and whilst its similarities to the tower of Blackpool cannot be denied the Parisian icon is much more widely celebrated. Google have doodled today and there’s a decent collection of constructables should you wish to recreate this engineering feat on a smaller scale at home.
